Name: Ryan Komlertkul
Induction Year: 2017
Category: Career Achievement in Tournament Play
Bio: Ryan is already in an exclusive club of 2 time winners of the KFM Cancer Classic. And when Ryan hasn’t won the overall championship, he often settles for the ‘Purple Rider’ Award which he has done twice. Ryan has gone the extra mile fiscally and literally (playing in Atlanta in ’02) to support the Classic. Ryan’s first championship was the first time the event was played in the most unforgiving of courses, the Green at Grant Park. Ryan is a respected and feared competitor at the Classic who has no shame in bringing his own putter and ball to the tournament.
Personal: Ryan was born and raised in Los Angeles, and a graduate of Arcola High School (Arcola, IL) and Illinois State University. Ryan is currently a Regional Vice President at Shaw Floors, one of the rare people who remains with the same company he started with as a college graduate. Ryan is an avid supporter and leader of the Les Turner ALS Foundation which enables him to help fight the disease that took his mom in 2012. He is also a Lakers fan and basketball aficionado. When Ryan was 23, he was single and lived in Naperville and drove a silver minivan.
Ryan’s thoughts on his Hall of Fame Induction:
“It's an honor participating in the KFM Cancer Classic. Many thanks to Kevin Monahan for taking up such a great cause and reminding all of us that we can each make a difference in other peoples lives. For me, the KFM Cancer Classic is a great time to visit with old friends, meet new ones and more importantly honor the loved ones we've lost to cancer yet also contribute towards the cause of fighting cancer. I always look forward to participating in this event and am extremely grateful to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.”
