Name: Brian Marchal
Induction Year: 2018
Category: Career Achievement in Tournament Play
Bio:
Brian earned his way into the HOF through hard work, determination, and his unashamed efforts to remain in the winners circle at the Classic. Brian is one of only 3 players to win multiple championships (’03 & ’08). This was made all the more impressive given that those 2 years were played on extreme opposite type courses. When Marchal wasn’t winning the overall championship, he was vying for the Rudy Flyer Award – which he has won 3x (lost 2 more in sudden death playoffs). Brian is also one of only two KFM players who played in every one of the first 13 tournaments and has served as a great recruiter and promoter of the Classic. His parents remain longtime supporters/attendees of this event. Brian is known to take several practice rounds in the days preceding the tournament.
Personal:
Brian is an Associate Director of Project Management at JLL and is currently based in London, England. He graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelors in Science in Civil Engineering in 2001 and received his MBA from DePaul Universityi in Real Estate/Finance in '06. Brian founded the Lakeview Polar Bear Club/Chicago Polar Bear Club in '02 and has raised $365,000 which has provided financial grants to 27 families. This is the 2nd Hall of Fame Brian has been enshrined into the World Famous Lawn Rangers years back. He also led 10-12 year olds in Home runs in the Little League division of Englewood Youth Baseball in 1988. At press time, Brian is contemplating a return to the States to continue working with JLL. He made his London Theater debut in 2017 in The Play That Goes Wrong.
Brian’s thoughts on his Hall of Fame Induction:
I’m really excited about being inducted in the HOF for the KFMCC! First of all, I’d like to thank God for giving me this amazing ability to consistently putt a golf ball into a hole from 8 feet away! Some things just can’t be taught! Second, I’d like to thank Mr Kevin F Monahan for creating such a great event and for all the hard work that the entire board has put in over the years. It is events like the KFMCC that are the fabric of our hardworking communities and make the USA the best country in the world.
Having known KFM since we were freshmen in college, being inducted into the HOF means that we have remained close friends for the past 22 years. That is far and away the most important aspect of this for me. There are many moments and decisions in my life that I wouldn’t have had the courage to make without a friend like Kevin. In addition, I am super competitive and always want to win. Some people may or may not know this, but I always play practice rounds on the course the week before the event. I am here to crush everyone and I won’t stop until I’m wearing that KFMCC Championship Jacket for the 3rd time.
