Pat & Annie Monahan

Name: Pat & Annie Monahan

Induction Year: 2021

Category: Career Achievement in Support

Bio: Despite the KFM Cancer Classic being played in 4 cities across 21 years and always held amidst graduations, reunions, and weddings – Pat and Annie have never missed a KFM Cancer Classic. They have also attended every KFM Hall of Fame dinner & induction ceremony. Their oldest daughter Margaret was inducted into the KFM Hall of Fame in 2019. On the greens, perhaps a nod to his ‘player friendly’ scoring, Pat won the Fossil Award in ’03 and ’06, and the Domer Award in ’16. Their career financial support and encouragement of the Classic stands alone.

Personal:Pat & Annie Monahan raised 9 children and have 17 grandchildren. They have been married for 55 years and reside in Arcola, IL. Pat, an Arcola native living in the house he grew up in, is currently serving in his role as Ambassador at Monahan Partners, a spinoff of the Thomas Monahan Company that was been in Arcola for 99 years. Annie, an Arcola transplant from Washington D.C., donates her time to helping the church in various activities, delivers meals to shut-ins, and fairs well on afternoon games of solitaire and episodes of Jeopardy. Both have been relentless in their support of all things Arcola and whose home knows no strangers and is a pleasant destination for all of their grandkids.

Pat and Annie's Thoughts on His Hall of Fame Induction:

“Hey KFM Cancer Classic, when Kevin announced he was sponsoring a fund raiser to fight Cancer, we thought what a nice thing to do – and though he said it was only the beginning, we were skeptical. We should have known better. It’s been fun to watch the event become a ‘happening’ and miniature golf is a genius selection for the activity. We take pride in the huge amount the event has raised – from the generosity of all the participants – for this most worthy cause. And to have done it in such a way that donors have a really fun time.

We are happy to be accepted into the Hall of Fame, joining so many good people who have been a great help in this fight and we are very proud of Kevin.”

Bacon Wrapped Dates

Name: Bacon Wrapped Dates from Café Ba-Ba-Reeba

Induction Year: 2021

Category: Career Achievement in Support

Bio:This tasty treat from Chicago has been a fixture at KFM as much as the champions limo or the ugly plaid jacket.

Mike Cunningham and Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba has proudly donated at least 1 vat (for lack of a better term) of bacon wrapped dates since 2005 and since that time has also donated over $4k worth of gift certificates. Many attendees look forward to the dates more than the golf. Though bacon-wrapped dates name will be engraved on the trophy, it’s recognition simply wouldn’t be possible without the remarkable support of Mike Cunningham, Alison Lowry, and Café Ba-Ba-Reeba!

Personal: Also referred to as ‘devils on horseback’, the dish is said to have Victorian origins. No one makes this dish better than Café Ba-Ba-Reeba!, a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant.

Bacon Wrapped Date's Thoughts on His Hall of Fame Induction:

“I have been honored to have been a part of the KFMCC for the past 16 years.

25 years ago – Michael H. Cunningham became the GM of Café Ba Ba Reeba. At that time the Restaurant was 10 years old. I was one of the original tapas on the menu but over time – misguided new Gringo Chefs went against tradition and delegated me off the menu & to the recipe book. It was indeed a painful rejection.

Mr. Cunningham’s first course of action was to peruse the menu & study the recipe book. He noticed me (BWD) & asked Chef Angel Gandarilla if I was a popular Tapa. The answer was “Hell yes Jefe!”. I was placed back on the menu to much fanfare & acclaim by the staff & guests. The rest is culinary history.

Café Ba Ba Reeba now sells 40,000 orders of Bacon Wrapped Dates annually. I am looking forward to my induction in 2021 & will do my best to honor the Award. I might even invite more of my fellow BWDs to attend this year’s event.
Buen Provecho.

PS. Visit my place in Lincoln Park – Kevin was well known there in his “Chicago Days” & may still have
connections for reservations.”
